What will I be making at the workshop?
You will be carving your own unique ring in wax. After the workshop, I’ll transform your wax carving into solid silver using a professional casting process, and the finished piece will be posted to you within 3-4 weeks.
Do I need any prior experience?
No experience is necessary! The workshop is designed for beginners, and I’ll guide you through each step of the process, from designing to carving your wax ring.
How long does the workshop last?
The workshop typically lasts around 2 hours with a 15 minute grace time, depending on the group size and design complexity.
What materials are provided?
All materials will be provided, including wax for carving, tools and guidance during the workshop. The silver casting and finishing will be handled by me after the workshop.
When will I receive my finished silver ring?
Your silver ring will be cast, finished, and posted to you within 3-4 weeks after the workshop.
Can I customize the design of my ring?
Absolutely! You are encouraged to come up with your own design. I will offer guidance and suggestions to help you create something unique and beautiful.
How do you turn the wax ring into silver?
After the workshop, your wax model will be sent to a casting facility where it will be used in a process called “lost-wax casting.” The wax is melted away and replaced with molten silver, creating a solid silver version of your design.
Is the cost of the silver included in the workshop price?
Yes, the cost of the silver and the casting process is included in the price of the workshop. There are no hidden fees!
What happens if I make a mistake while carving?
Don’t worry! Mistakes are part of the learning process, and I’ll be there to guide you if anything goes wrong.
What should I bring to the workshop?
Just yourself! If you have a design idea in mind, feel free to bring sketches, textures or inspiration, but it’s not necessary.
Will the ring be finished and polished?
Yes. After casting, your silver ring will be professionally finished and polished, so it’s ready to wear when you receive it.
What if I need to make changes to my ring after receiving it?
If you need any adjustments or alterations, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss potential solutions.
What sizes can I make the ring in?
You’ll have the chance to measure and size your ring during the workshop, ensuring it fits perfectly.
Do you offer group or private bookings?
Yes, I offer private and group workshops. If you’d like to book a session with friends or family, or have a private session, feel free to get in touch for more details.
What happens if I can’t make it to the workshop?
If you cannot attend your booked workshop for any reason, please get in touch. I can offer a refund up to 4 weeks before the workshop takes place. If the request comes within 4 weeks of the workshop, we will reschedule instead. Please give ample notice if you need to reschedule.
Can I make other types of jewellery, like pendants?
The workshop is focused on rings, but if you’re interested in carving something else, get in touch and we can discuss or keep an eye out for future classes.
Can I choose the finish for my ring?
Yes! You can choose from a variety of finishes to suit your personal style, including a matt finish, a high-shine polished look, or even a textured finish like a finger of thumb print for something more unique. we'll discuss these options during the workshop.
Are there any extras I can add to my ring design?
Yes! You can take your design to the next level with optional extras, (additional charges apply) including:
- Gold plating for a luxurious touch
- Engraving to add a personal message or initials
- Stone setting if you'd like to incorporate a gemstone
- Hallmarking for authenticity and quality assurance

Can I add my finger of thumbprint to the design?
Yes, you can make your ring even more personal by adding your finger of thumbprint to the design. This creates a truly one-of-a-kind piece of jewellery that reflects your unique identity. I'll guide you through how to incorporate this into your wax ring carving.
